In a surprise move this week, Nintendo stealth-released Stretchmo, the third game in the Pushmo/Crashmo series on 3DS, without any advance notice and with a "free to start" purchasing model.
While it's great to see Nintendo continue to support a really inventive, newer series, I'm more interested in the way they released Stretchmo and what it means for Nintendo's future.
Nintendo, as promised in their recent Nintendo Direct video, released the latest update to StreetPass Mii Plaza this week (4.16.2015) that includes two new games, a set of free updates, and the ability to purchase a set of paid enhancements. Let's dive into all the details!
Ever since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D got remastered for Nintendo's portable 3DS, fans have been asking the company (and series creator Shigeru Miyamoto) if they would consider giving the same treatment to its much stranger, almost cult-classic-status sequel, Majora's Mask.
Well, it may have taken over three years, but Nintendo announced today that The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D is headed to 3DS (and 2DS and New 3DS) systems in Spring 2015.
It's time for Nintendo's "Digital Event"--their alternative to a live E3 press conference. While last year featured a "just okay" Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo has rebranded this video with the hopes of delivering a memorable E3 experiences. Read on to get my take on whether or not they succeeded.
It's E3 Week, everyone! Make sure all your consoles are updated and ready to stream all of the official E3 goodness straight to your TV. Microsoft and Sony have both prepared special live streaming apps, while Nintendo will likely use the eShop's video streaming ability along with a special Miiverse community for E3 announcements. Get yourself (and your consoles) prepared!
Long ago, before the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) began in 1995, there was "Summer CES" (Consumer Electronics Show). If you're not familiar with either of these events, picture huge conference halls filled with giant booths for upcoming games and games hardware, lots of video screens, people dressed up in the costumes of game characters, and hordes of people lining up to get their hands on the future of gaming. With E3 2014 starting tomorrow, I thought it would be fun to reflect on the past of gaming's biggest week.
E3 2014 is less than three weeks away. That's...well, it's kind of crazy. I wanted to take a little time to ruminate on the upcoming conference, what with its megaton announcements, awkward executives giving speeches, and the inevitable week-before leaks. It's a special time of year for gamers to pull together and get really excited about their hobby. Here are a few things I'm looking forward to from each of the big players.
Nintendo has released their first E3 promotional material, a Mega64-produced video outlining their plans for another year without a major stage presentation at gaming's biggest event of the year. What does this mean for Nintendo fans this June? Read my thoughts in the full post.
